IPL Hair Removal

Imagine not having to shave, tweeze, wax or go through electrolysis again....

Excess body and facial hair can be an unsightly and embarrassing problem. Shaving, plucking, waxing and depilatory creams provide temporary fixes that are inconvenient, irritating, messy and only temporary. Electrolysis is time consuming, sometimes painful, and is useful only in removing hair from small areas.

Excess hair is a common problem. Women frequently experience this condition on the face, especially the upper lip or eyebrow area, in the bikini area, under the arms or on the legs. Men often wish to rid themselves of hair on their back or chest. They too may have unwanted hair between their eyebrows or on other parts of their face.

Lumenis Invented, Advanced and Perfected IPL

The Island Cosmetic Clinic is pleased to offer one of the most advanced IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) device from Lumenis, the world leader and pioneer in medical lasesr and

light-based technologies from the USA.

Our IPL technology is more advanced than even lasers. It offers a gentle,non-invasive, long-lasting solution to unwanted hair. It has been proven to create a permanent reduction in the number of regrowing hairs following each treatment in most skin types.

Our IPLtreatment is gentler on the skin, and more comfortable than many laser treatments, with minimal patient downtime and risk of side effects.

How does IPL remove hair?
Highly controlled flashes of light are selectively absorbed by hair follicles lying below the surface of the skin. The absorbed light heats the hair, which damages or destroys the regrowth potential of the follicle. All without damaging the surrounding tissue.

IPL

What happens during treatment?
Your treatment begins by trimming away the hair above the skin. You will be asked to wear glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light. A cold gel may be applied over the treatment area. The IPL handpiece is then applied to your skin and pulses of light begins disabling your unwanted hair. When the gel is removed much of the hair is wiped off with it. The remaining hair in the treated area falls out over the next week or two.

What does the Treatment feel like?
Each pulse of light feels like a slight sting or pinch similar to the snap of an elastic band. No local anaesthesia is required and most people tolerate the treatment well.

Can all hair be treated?

IPL's unique design offers you customized treatment according to your hair colour, texture and the location of body hair. Any hair with at least some pigment in it (black, brown, red and even blonde) can be treated effectively.

Is IPL safe for all skin types?
IPL is the first photoepilation procedure proven to effectively treat unwanted hair on all skin types. You will have a detailed discussion at your consultation.

Are there any possible side effects?

Side effects are rare. You may experience some slight reddening or local swelling at the treatment site, but this typically goes away within hours. On rare ocassions, some blistering or bruising may occur, but typically resolves quickly. Also the skin can become darker or lighter, but will generally return to normal within a few weeks.

Following the treatment, you can generally return to work and resume all regular activities immediately.

What kind of results should I expect?

IPL technology has been proven to create a permanent reduction in the number of regrowing hairs following each treatment in most skin types. The number of treatments required depends on your specific kind of hair and skin.

A customized treatment program will be designed for you, along with an estimate of how many treatments you may need in order to meet your expectations.

IPL Skin Rejuvenation

Help restore the skin’s youthful look
It's nearly impossible to get through life without unsightly veins, blood vessels, age spots, and freckles on the face. They are a problem for millions of men and women worldwide.

Both the pleasures and stresses of life, along with the simple passage of time tend to cause our skin to appear older. The signs of photo aging and sun damage are typically most visible on the face and body.

Intense Pulsed Light IPL can simultaneously treat a wide range of facial concerns safely and effectively, such as broken capillaries, facial redness, benign brown pigment, age spots, sun induced freckles and mottled pigmentation.

The Island Cosmetic Clinics IPL from Lumenis is the gold standard for photorejuvenation. Lumenis (USA) is the world leader and pioneer in laser and light based technology. How do other treatments compare to IPL Photorejuvenation?

This is achieved without the slightest interruption to your busy lifestyle.
